2 Corinthians 15:7 – But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.
The new year has only just arrived and I have already been hit with a few obstacles and some tests that tried my faith, trying to derail me of my goals and commitments for 2020. One issue in particular had me wanting to cry and give up.
But these few tests did help push me to not give up. Though at the time everything in me was very upset and frustrated by what was going on. I felt so overwhelmed and was just confused by why this was happening to me at the worst possible time. Moments like these are not really what we ask God for when we pray to have our faith strengthened, or help to practice patience or to be more brave. I think sometimes we assume that God will give us patience, joy, more faith or wisdom after we pray for a long time very meaningfully and then boom, we get it. But the reality is he has to throw obstacles in our way. He has to make us uncomfortable as well. That is the only way we can grow. God truly know what we’re made of, and how to get the best out of us, so he has to push our limits. He may even have to test us over and over again with the same thing and even something new until we get it right.
Everything God does works out for the best. Including the not so fun parts that test us and are difficult (But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good…- Genesis 50:20) Don’t. Give. Up. Keep pushing and keep setting those goals and watch God work in your life. Making it his mission for you to succeed and not fail.
