“He Fights For Us”

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a huge movie fanatic. I can watch movies all day and if I really like the movie I’ll watch it for two days straight. One of my favorite trilogies is The Matrix trilogies. I remember each year when the newest one came out, my family and I would be at the theater ready to jump out of our skin in anticipation for what we’d see. In the last movie, once the battle finally commences, Morpheus and the others notice something happens to the machines and for a few moments they stop attacking just as they are about to be destroyed. After a few moments Morpheus realizes that there is something or actually someone behind the scenes when he proclaims out loud, ‘he fights for us.’ For me this entire movie is an example of no matter what happens in our life, the tough fights we face, we never face it alone. We never fight alone. God is always with us. And though I know that God is always looking out for all of His children, I have questioned, why? Why does God fight for us?

  • Because he loves us. – John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that who so ever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. God has always fought for us and has had us on his mind. When he went to the cross to die for our sins he did it out of love. Knowing we were still sinners.
  • Because we can’t do it alone. – Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” The Lord knows that we will have times when we are unsure or afraid. But he constantly reminds us to know that we are not alone. He is always with us.

Now of course, everyday is not a difficult battle but it is very comforting to know that when it does get difficult; and it will get difficult, that we are not going about it solo. Christ is our heavenly father who knows all that we need and knows we are frail. He is our strength and our shield that will never fail us in our time of need. Trust God to fight for you.
