It Takes Discipline To Seek God

It seems like an easy thing to obey, ‘seek God with your whole heart’, but why do a lot of us struggle with this action. It can be as simple as read your Bible and pray everyday. But it still gets left to be done for another day. And usually its the day when your in big trouble or are struggling so bad your about to throw in the towel. So outside of a bad day, why can’t we seek God and all if his provision?

We live in a culture that is motivated by self. You can do it, just believe in yourself. You can accomplish your dreams, just trust in your abilities. We can do it all, just follow your steps. But this kind of thinking can only get us so far. Our abilities, talents, strength has a limit. God’s provision on the other hand has no limit. That is if we rust Him. Depend on Him. Follow HIm. (Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:5-6) When we trust in our own selves it limits us and it tragically causes us to turn from God to us. Putting our trust in the culture of the world we live in.

The world finds it ok with drawing from our own abilities. We ourselves can have it all, do it all but its quite misguided. When we truly trust in the Jesus of the Bible that we claim to be our example, out savior, our teacher, mentor, everything. (You, Lord, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands. – Psalm 16:5) When we find that we are in desperate need of God and should exercise that act of discipline in chasing after His ways, Hid plans, His power, His provision; so in the end He can push us to a precipice of heights where God is glorified and we are in awe by His works in us. He saved us so that His glory can be extended to everyone. But he needs those that will be disciplined and seek His face actively. (But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. – Deuteronomy 4:29) Discipline is hard to come by these days. So lets not be typical when we know our God’s provision is not typical. Lets stay diligent and disciplined for his name sake.
