Thankful: feeling or expressing gratitude; appreciative
Being thankful for what we have and thankful for what we don’t have is important. We don’t have the ability to change who we are. But we do have the ability to stand firm in who we are by being thankful.
So How Can We Maintain A Thankful Spirit?
- Know that there are things that are out of your control. And that’s ok. It’s not our job to control everything. It’s God’s job. He’s in control. (Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27)
- Know that God has given you all you need. And whatever the Lord has given you is good. (“For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.” – 1 Timothy 4:4-5)
It can be pretty easy to look at what we don’t have materially, physically, financially and so on. But when we change our perspective to a Christ like mindset, we open up the door to a greater understandinf of how to live a life pleasing to God.
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
