“Christians like to hear themselves talk. They are arrogant about their beliefs, but they never bother figuring out what other people actually think. They don’t seem to be very compassionate, especially when they feel strongly about something.”
In the book UnChristian by David Kinnaman and Gabe Lyons, it talks about understanding how the world views us Christians and why its important. And I know it can hurt to know what others think of us, but a lot of people do feel this way. Why? Because they have experienced it. They came to church to experience God, but instead were met with ridicule and judgement and brutal opinions from arrogant individuals. And for most they don’t come back and it leaves a bad taste in their mouth.
As Christian women; true believers of Jesus Christ and followers of God’s word; we need to not be so quick to tell each other what our problem is. (Matthew 7:3-5) We need to better ourselves to help other people. We can get so caught up in traditions, slogans and rituals because we’ve been in the church for so long or just do what we believe is expected, so we end up neglecting what God calls us to do as His disciples. (Ephesians 4:2 & 32)
Its important to empathize with others and not be so quick to dismiss people. They don’t need a judge or jury. They need a savior. Just like you and me. We’re not that different. So again, lets learn to be better, to help others be better, in Jesus name.
“Let each of you look not only to his own interest, but also to the interests of others.” – Philippians 2:4
