You Just Got Saved. Now What?

So, what do you do now, huh? You just got saved, you gave your life to the Lord, you’ve been adopted into this family, you’re excited, maybe nervous, but are willing to try this Jesus you’ve heard about. So where do you go from here?

Well, the first thing is you need to get involved in a Bible based church. You need to hear the true doctrine, preached and taught on Sunday and as well during Bible study, by a Pastor who is coming from the Bible, not from his own opinion. This is important because if the Pastor is feeding his flock (the congregation) properly, than the church is getting the teaching that is needed so they can live life according to Christ. And being in fellowship with other believers will help you grow. You will understand your assignment or your role as a disciple of Jesus. This is important for your faith to grow and your relationship with Jesus for the rest of your life. (Romans 10:14-17)

Next you need to read your Bible. Start with the book of John, in the New Testament and go from there. This is a great place to start, especially as a new believer, because it gives you point blank details, descriptions, exampled for how to live according to Jesus’ example. You’ll read about how to recognize earthly/fleshly desires and how to recognize the characteristics of Christ-like behavior. What Christ calls us to do and how to do it. In Psalm 119:105, it reads, Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. So let his word lead you, correct you and even challenge you.

And last, but not least at all, You need to pray daily. And here is what I’ll say about prayer…It does not have to be perfect. You don’t have to have the perfect words, the longest prayer or even the right emotions each time to talk to the Lord. I know that i have come to Jesus, in prayer, more times than I can count, not happy. I’ve come frustrated, confused, upset, angry, sad. But I knew that if you just pushed past how I was feeling and got to the Lord in prayer, I knew the Lord would hear me. As well, prayer in vital because it strengthens our relationship with our Savior. By communicating. Now, I do not know any relationship where there is no communication happening. None. No matter if that is with family, siblings, friendships or husband and wife; if they are not communication, they are doomed to fall apart.

Prayer with the Lord, is always an option. No matter if you have been saved for two days or 22 years. Read 1 John 5:14 and Philippians 4:6 to start you off about prayer and why its important.

These three beginning steps will help you get started, in your new life with Christ. It does require change that will begin from the inside out. Not everyday will be easy, but with Christ, it is worth it. Just take it one day at a time and understand Christ does not want perfection from us, but progress. So make progress everyday.
